I have over a decade of experience in learning centers throughout the University System of Maryland. I am the Supplemental Instruction (SI) Coordinator at Coppin State University. I spearheaded the SI pilot program at Coppin State University and Towson University. I am certified in SI Supervisor Training through UMKC. I received my B.A. in Psychology with a minor in Conflict Analysis and Dispute Resolution, and my M.Ed. in Higher Education, both from Salisbury University. I am currently completing my Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration at Morgan State University, with a focus on tenured faculty. I have previously worked in Advising, tutoring, probation programs, and teaching Freshmen Seminar courses.
Tami Kopischke SmithInstitution: University of Maryland, College Park Job Title: Associate Director, Teaching & Learning Transformation Center I am ready and excited for the Learning Success Team at the University of Maryland, College Park to host the next MDCLCA conference. I am seeking the Vice President role to bring my expertise in guiding and leading the Learning Success Team at UMD to MDCLCA’s executive leadership. My experience developing our center from the ground up -- including creating high-impact learning opportunities and fostering professional collaboration -- directly prepares me to chair the professional development committee. I look forward to the opportunity of hosting the conference and serving the MDCLCA membership over the next three years. Beyond coordinating the Coffee and Conversation sessions, I will champion continued community building and organize learning opportunities that foster curiosity and shared excitement for our important work. |

Liberty Chenault-RandallInstitution: Hood College Job Title: Academic Coach As a student academic coach at Hood College’s Student Success Center, I work closely with students every day to support their academic growth, confidence, and success. This role has strengthened my leadership, communication, and mentorship skills while allowing me to serve as a resource and advocate for my peers. I am passionate about academic support and believe student voices are essential in shaping effective learning center programs. In addition to coaching, I also assist with managing the Student Success Center’s Instagram page, where I design graphics and help create engaging content that promotes resources and events. Through this experience, I’ve developed creative strategies to connect with students and increase awareness of support services. If elected as MDCLCA Student Representative, I would focus on elevating student ideas and perspectives within the organization, ensuring that the voices of those working directly with students are actively represented in conversations and decisions. My experience creating engaging social media content and designing promotional materials would allow me to effectively highlight MDCLCA initiatives, events, and opportunities in ways that resonate with students across campuses. By combining strong leadership, creativity, and firsthand experience in academic support, I am confident I can represent student staff effectively and contribute meaningful ideas that help MDCLCA continue to grow and engage its student community. |
JonPaul MarschallInstitution: Mount St. Mary's University Job Title: Tutor I am running as the student representative for MDCLCA to represent the students in roles within the academic support office. As a college student, I have learned many valuable lessons and gained multiple qualities that would help me as a student representative. I have served in various positions such as being a Head Tutor, Student Instructor, Research Assistant, Vice-President of TriBeta Biology Honors Society, Treasurer of Italian Culture Club, and Chair of Justice and Communications for True Colors, a club that supports and raises awareness within the LGBTQIA+ community. Through these positions I have formed connections with many other campus departments while advocating for our clubs’ presence with other student-led organizations. I have gained communication, advocacy, time-management, and organizational skills that would help me as a student representative for MDCLCA. I have learned that student success stems from supporting a diverse and welcoming community, taking car of oneself, and having proper learning tools available. If elected as student representative, I will help to communicate the needs of students and student leaders, and create the bridge between the students and administrative staff. |

I have previously been involved with the MDCLCA conference planning committees in 2020 and 2021. I have also supported both conferences that have been hosted here at Towson University. I am looking to further serve the learning center community by serving as a member of the board. I bring 10+ years of higher education experience along with the desire to help guide our field into the future. |
